An Ozempic alternative is not a supplement
Ozempic and Wegovy are brands of semaglutide. The label we opened is Wegovy, also semaglutide, for injection and for tablets. It is a GLP-1 receptor agonist used with diet and activity. A compounded semaglutide is not that finished product. A supplement list is not that label either.
Three different things
Position 1 on 2026-10-16 is a university page about alternatives to FDA-approved weight-loss drugs. We did not turn that into a natural-remedy list. These are the stops on the Wegovy label we opened.
| Stop or warning on the Wegovy label | Plain version |
|---|---|
| Boxed warning: thyroid C-cell tumors in rodents. Human risk of medullary thyroid carcinoma is unknown. | Do not start if you or your family has had MTC, or if you have MEN 2. |
| Hypersensitivity to semaglutide | A prior serious reaction is a stop. |
| Pancreatitis has been seen with GLP-1 receptor agonists | Stop and get care if pancreatitis is suspected. |
| Not recommended with another semaglutide product or another GLP-1 receptor agonist | Do not stack them because a blog said to. |
| Injection: start 0.25 mg once weekly for 4 weeks, then escalate. Usual maintenance on that label is 2.4 mg once weekly. | That is the brand injection schedule. It is not a compounded dose. |
We do not print a tirzepatide dose here. That label was not the file we opened. A clinician can consider semaglutide, tirzepatide, a lower-dose path, or no medicine. The existing pages are compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide.
